About

The Highlands Fat Bike Series is a collaboration between several partner groups stoked on fat biking. This series is aimed at getting more people riding fat bikes in the winter months through grass roots riding and racing events: giving good excuses to get great people together on fat bikes.

Zach Adams is the founder of partner group Trail Labs, and has been focused on fat bikes every winter since 2014 when the first fat bike event happened in Canaan Valley. He rides a fat bike as much as possible in the winter, runs the Canaan Valley 50k and Mountain State Fat Bike Champs, and tries to keep up with publicly accessible grooming at Canaan Valley State Park and the Beall Trails on CVNWR. Through Trail Labs, he is also able to provide fat bike focused rentals and retail in the winter months.

Sarah Myers is the founder of partner group Deep Creek Adventure Bureau. She produces rides, races, runs and (fund)raisers in Western Maryland to celebrate the great Garrett County outdoors!

The first time I borrowed a fat bike and rode it down the local cross country ski trails in the snow, a whole new world was opened up! Trail riding was fun and I could stick with it all year ‘round. And, if I could get outside and get my heart rate up, I wouldn’t have to go to the boring old gym I told myself. We put on these races as a way to introduce new people to the world of fat bikes and create a community of riders and outdoor enthusiasts!

Blackwater Bicycle Association is a non-profit partner in Tucker County, WV focused on advocating for cycling in the greater Tucker County, West Virginia area. They work to ensure open access to bicycles, help with trail maintenance, and organize quality cycling events.
